PHYNEST is a Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND doctoral programme coordinated by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. It is designed to nurture the next generation of scientific leaders in physics and materials science, who are committed to finding sustainable energy solutions for a greener future.
Over four years, PHYNEST will support 25 PhD fellows through a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research and training environment. The programme is backed by five leading research centres and over 30 associated partners, offering world-class infrastructure, international secondments, and a rich curriculum that integrates scientific excellence with societal impact. PHYNEST aims to empower young researchers to become academic and entrepreneurial leaders in the transition to sustainable energy. The PhD projects offered can be grouped under five major thematic areas: (1) Materials and measures empowering energy efficiency, (2) Theory and modelling of energy-efficient devices, (3) Historical and societal evolution of energy and sustainability, (4) Advanced sensing and actuation for sustainability improvement, and (5) Climate change carbon monitoring. Specifically, Gnm3 group offers PhD projects under the first two thematic areas.
