PhD Student

Asier Salicio received his degree in chemistry by the University of the Basque Country in 2007. In 2008, he joined IK4-CIDETEC as researcher in the Surface Engineering Area, where he has been involved in several national and European funded projects dealing with surface modification by chemical and electrochemical techniques, either from aqueous or organic based electrolytes. In 2013, he started his collaboration with the Gnm3 group through a research stay for studying the mechanical properties of electrodeposited Ni/Al2O3 composites. He completed his scientific education obtaining in 2016 his Master Degree in Chemistry and Polymers by the University of the Basque Country. His Master´s Thesis dealt with the optimization of a commercial-like electroless formulation using the design of experiment approach for enhancing mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of carbon steel substrates. His PhD thesis project pursues the development and characterization of electroless composites with advanced properties. Currently, he is carrying out his research activity at the Surface´s Electrochemistry Unit at IK4-CIDETEC under the supervision of Dr. Eva García-Lecina, head of the unit and co-director of his PhD thesis along with Dr. Jordi Sort and Dr. Eva Pellicer from the Gnm3.
